How I landed a 10% reply rate in founder-led outbound sales

I wrote this post on Bookface, but linking it here in case it helps more people.

Hey guys! I've spent just about two years in outbound sales now selling to enterprises like Lindt, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, etc. - and there are two pieces of advice that I wish I knew when I started doing this 2 years ago.

Not warming my emails enough

I originally thought the rule was to warm up every inbox with a few emails every day right when I bought the domain. That led me to have terrible deliverability issues. The golden rule of thumb I use now is to warm every inbox the with the SAME amount of emails that I send out daily. Example: If I send 50 outbound emails out on a domain, I should have 50 emails warming that inbox. Even if the inbox has been around a long time, it should still be warmed. When you first buy a domain, make sure to ramp up the warming (aka don't send 50 emails right away). I use Instantly for this today, it's saved me so many problems with email deliverability.

Respond in 15 minutes across ALL outbound channels

This is something that I tried to find on the market so many times but couldn't find anything, so I ended up building my own tool to do this. As a founder who changed the messaging of my outbound frequently, I was the worst at getting back to responders in 15 minutes. Responding quickly can increase your chances of booking a meeting and closing a deal by 7x. Time kills all deals.

I don't usually trust AI to man my inbox, but I really needed something to be able to respond to folks that replied to my outbound sequences across Linkedin, email, twitter, etc. When a prospect said ("I'm swamped this week but reach back out next week", or "sounds great, text me"), I was always late in responding. I left so much money on the table.

I built a tool to respond to outbound sequences and do the basics (getting a meeting booked, responding quickly, circling back if the prospect was busy, etc.) - DM me and happy to share the tool with y'all, saved me tons of time.

Hope this helps, lmk what tips helped you all!
